The Search for a Cinderella gets underway at the Playhouse!
The search to find the title role in this year’s magical family pantomime Cinderella at Harlow Playhouse got underway on Saturday.
The Playhouse held the first round of auditions at the theatre to find that special someone to play the role of Cinderella.
Nine candidates, all living in the local area, auditioned for the part and spent the day with a judging panel consisting of Playhouse General Manager Scott Ramsay and representatives from New World Productions, the company chosen to stage this year’s pantomime in association with the Playhouse.
During the day, the number of candidates was whittled down until three were chosen to go through to the second round of auditions. It will be at the end of this stage when the final decision is made as to who will play Cinderella.
The successful candidate will receive an Equity contract and be unveiled to the public at the Harlow Town Show on Sunday, September 6. The pantomime itself takes place from December 11-January 10.
Mr Ramsay said: “I was impressed by the candidates we had on the day. They worked very hard and it now falls to them to come back for the second audition and really wow us.
“I know it will be a tough decision. Whoever we get to play Cinderella will contribute towards making this year’s pantomime a show you simply won’t want to miss.”
Director Guy Pascal said: “All three of the candidates who went through would make a great Cinderella.
“They’ve all got something different to bring to the table and it will make it interesting for the second audition. We will put them through their paces and I’m sure we will get a fantastic Cinderella.”
Tickets for Cinderella can be booked from the Playhouse Box Office on 01279 431945 or online at www.playhouseharlow.com.whatson/plays/cinderella
