The search is on to find a talented actress to play the title role in this year’s magical family pantomime Cinderella at Harlow Playhouse.
The Playhouse, in association with pantomime producers New World Productions is on the lookout for a female aged 16 or over who lives in the area to star alongside Sandra Dickinson, Ben Hanson and Rob McVeigh in Cinderella
The first round of auditions takes place at the Playhouse on Saturday, July 25, with registration at 10am and the day finishing at 4pm. Those who make it through will be asked to come back for a second round of auditions.
The successful candidate will receive an Equity contract and be unveiled to the public at the Harlow Town Show on Sunday, September 6.
Those auditioning will need to bring their CV along and a photograph, as well as a short song to perform unaccompanied. They will also be given a section of the script to perform in front of a judging panel, comprising the Cinderella creative team and Playhouse General Manager Scott Ramsay.
The successful candidate must be freely available from November 30-December 10 for rehearsals and then from December 11-January 10 for the performances.
The role is contracted, meaning the performer will be paid for their work on the show.
"Cinderella is probably the best pantomime part to play and we'll be looking for someone that can sing, dance and act to a very high standard,” said director Guy Pascall, from New World Productions.
“It's going to be a fantastic production and a real opportunity for a local girl to gain valuable professional experience and start them off on their own glittering career. As this is our first year at Harlow Playhouse we're really looking forward to bringing a wonderful show to the area."
Mr Ramsay said: “I’m thrilled the central part in this year’s pantomime is going to be taken by a talented local performer.
“It’s a super opportunity for someone out there and I am very much looking forward to the auditions on July 25.”
