Jean-Dominique Bauby, aka Jean-Do (Amalric) is the high-flying
editor of French Elle magazine and a man with the world at
his feet when, suddenly, his whole world comes crashing down
around him. Paralyzed following a stroke, Jean-Do’s only
way of communicating with the outside world is by blinking
with one eye. But instead of withdrawing into himself, Jean-Do,
with the support of a number of helpers determines to chronicle
his memoirs and so begins an inspiring journey into the strength
of the human spirit. Based on Bauby’s book of the same name
this is rivetingly brought to the screen by the Oscar-nominated
Schnabel.
