Stars: Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem
Running time: 122 minutes

The big winner at this year’s Oscar’s – scooping Best Picture and Best Director(s) for brothers Joel and Ethan Coen – this hard boiled adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s pitch black novel has everyman Llewelyn Moss (Brolin) stumbling upon a drug deal gone wrong and deciding to take the $2m left lying around for himself. Bad idea, as Moss soon has demented psychopath Anton Chigurh (Bardem, sporting one of cinema’s most obscure haircuts) on his tail. Meanwhile, quiet Sheriff Bell (Jones) must contend with Hell descending on his small Texan town.

“Virtuoso. A film of pin-sharp principles, cross-hair precision and suffocating tension, this Coen’s stunner hits like a cattle gun between the eyes” Total Film

Stars: Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Eric Bana
Running time: 115 minutes

Based on Philippa Gregory’s best-selling novel, Chadwick’s historical romp takes an unorthodox view of how King Henry VIII (Bana) eventually ended up taking Anne Boleyn (Portman) as the second of his six wives. Pushed by their ambitious father to further the Boleyn family’s status, sisters Anne and Mary (Johansson) are charged with courting the affections of Henry. While the slightly naïve Mary is successful in first catching the eye of the King, it is the conniving and ruthless Anne who is ultimately prepared to do what it takes to secure the ultimate prize – Queen of England.
