The Enterprise crew get in touch with nature when a destructive space probe threatens Earth with destruction in this, one of the most enjoyable chapters in the Trek franchise. Kirk and co realise they must travel back in time to the 20th Century to retrieve two humpback whales, the only beings able to respond to the probe, if they are to save the world.
