Music in the Round presents...

Doric String Quartet

MITR Doric String Quartet
Sun 9th May 2010 - 7pm
Main Auditorium

The Doric Quartet is now firmly established as one of the outstanding quartets of their generation having won first prize at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in 2008. The quartet has a particular affinity for the music of Haydn which is clear in their performances of his work. This programme includes one of Haydn’s last and most peculiar quartets in which he breaks nearly every rule in traditional quartet writing. The final movement of Britten’s second quartet is a tribute to the Baroque composer Henry Purcell who died 200 years earlier.
